Question 5

Post a new question to your colleagues and respond to a question based on the readings from Week 7.

Question 4 – Option 3

Pose new question to your classmates (150words minimum) that pertains to the readings for this week.

Question 4 – Option 2

Create your own definition of robotic art using “Robo-Renga, or a Tele-Discussion about Art and Robotics” by Erkki Huhtamo and Machiko Kusahara as a starting point. Please consider the following excerpt from the text and make a case that describes a potential future path for robotic art based on the readings and your own critical evaluation of the field of media arts.

This leads me to think about the future of robotic art. Will it be a major
trend or genre? Unfortunately I am not quite convinced, at least if we
continue to define robot as a ’hard’ entity with metal surfaces and
mechanical moving parts. Issues like machine consciousness, artificial
life or learning systems will be major concerns for artists, but they will
probably often be dealt with ’the software way’.

Question 4 – Option 1

The introduction of the computer in almost every aspect of human life has changed its role and has raised questions about the difference between human and artificial intelligence. Please explain in your own words the ways by which computers have challenged the idea of knowledge, creativity, and imagination in reference to examples that come from the world of media arts, design, and computer science.

Question 3
